Maca is an ancient Peruvian root that Incan warriors were said to have consumed for stamina and endurance. It is high in fibre and has a rich, malty flavour that combines well with cacao. It grows high in the Peruvian Andes and is able to survive during extreme weather conditions. Its root and hypocotyl - the bulbous stem below the leafy growth - have for centuries been part of the diet and culture of people in the region. After harvesting it is slowly air dried and then milled into a powder. It is HIGH IN VITAMIN B6 which contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity and HIGH IN POTASSIUM which contributes to normal muscle function.
