Although frequently mistaken for a seed, caraway is a unique spice long used in cooking and herbal medicine around Asia & North Africa. It has a slightly bitter taste, with an earthy flavour similar to that of Coriander, Liquorice and Fennel.

What is Caraway used for?

Caraway is a popular choice to spice Bread, particularly rye bread, and is also used in Cakes, Desserts & Puddings, casseroles and liquors.

Is Caraway the same as cumin?

No! Although it is known as 'Persian cumin' in some places, it is understandable that caraway is often confused with Cumin. However, cumin differs to caraway its taste, colour, and strong, warm aroma.
