Natures Healthbox offer a selection of natural head lice treatments that provide an alternative to the regular brands, which sometimes include harmful chemicals. For example, Tea Tree oil is considered to be an effective treatment for head lice because it acts as a natural insecticide, while Eucalyptus Oil is thought to suffocate lice, making them easier to locate and and comb out.
Head lice are very small parasites that manifest on the scalp and Hair shafts, particularly on those of school children aged between 4-11 years.
Head lice reproduce quickly and can spread to others through contact with and infected person or sharing those personal items for which the infected person has used. The only way to confirm a head lice infection is by combing the hair with a specially designed fine-toothed nit comb (see the Nitty Gritty Nit Free Comb) to find a live louse, however early indications may include constant itching and noticeable red bumps on the scalp.
No! For all the good that Apple Cider Vinegar does medicinally, unfortunately it is not an effective treatment for getting rid of lice.
It might do! Along with Tea Tree oil, Peppermint oil is considered one of the most effective natural head lice treatments.
Other than the aforementioned tea tree and peppermint oils (above), the Essential Oils of Cloves, Neem, Lavender, eucalyptus and Cinnamon are all thought to combat head lice naturally.
